On Saturday, July 11, 2009 Spartan Lodge 70 held a "Rusty Nail Degree."  The morning of fellowship and Masonic education began at 8:00 a.m. with a buffet breakfast in the dining hall, and the meeting in the Lodge Room started at 9:00 a.m.  For those who have never attended a Rusty Nail Degree, the purpose is educational: the hour long program is a refresher course for Master Masons in some of the ritual, esoterica, and protocol for a Lodge of Ancient Free Masons.  We had visiting brethren for this program from as far away as Charleston, S.C.  In the future, we hope to put on several Rusty Nail Degrees throughout the year.  Please keep an eye out for announced dates here on the Spartan Lodge 70 web site.

South Carolina Masonic License plates can be ordered at you local Department of Motor Vehicles.  The amount over what the DMV keeps for their fees is sent to the Scottish Rite Foundation for Childhood Language Disorders and the Grand Lodge Charity and Disaster Relief Fund.  Show your Masonic pride, get yours today.  The cost is $30 per vehicle.  Remember to take your dues card when you ask for your license plate.

Note: Please be sure to request the A.F.M. license plate, as there are other Masonic plates available.

On March 26, 2009 Spartan Lodge 70 hosted a special Master Mason Degree with candidates from the 19th, 20th, and 21st Masonic Districts being raised to the degree of Master Mason.  In attendance were officers of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina, including Most Worshipful Brother Gerald L. Carver, Grand Master of Masons in South Carolina.  Here are some photos from the event.  Click on each photo to see a larger version.
